Students of all skill levels will get hands on experience preparing meals. We do a wide variety of balanced, cooking from scratch, fantastic meals.  They will also create menus and contribute ideas to what we cook in class.  Students will learn kitchen safety, knife skills and all the techniques it takes to create their meals.  Returning students will have new dishes to prepare and new challenges. 

Note to moms: Mother's Day is coming up next month. We will do our best to get them ready to surprise you with breakfast. :-)

This first of two classes lead up to our Jr. Chef competition on the third week (Last week of May). We will be talking about what the difference in cooking and baking is, how to properly measure, mix and bake. We will be exploring baking from the savory side as well as the sweet.

Students will have access to computers to get recipes. Each group /individual will be given a box of items that they will need to figure out a dessert. Will it be fruit, baked, savory or ?? Let the cooking and creating will begin!

The competion will be fun & friendly -with an emphasis on learning and trying.

Do you have a budding chef? This week we will be a great opportunity to work on kitchen skills while adding the challenge of competition. We will spend time learning a large variety of recipes and types of cooking. We will be working on building self-confidence in the kitchen and their (and yours!) ability to feel comfortable preparing dishes from scratch.
Wednesday we will have a smaller practice iron chef contest. Friday we will hold our Jr. Chef competition. Put in groups, or going solo, they will be given a 'basket' of ingredients that they will need to make into a tasty meal that they will present to the judges for tasting. Parents are welcome to come the last 30 minutes of class on Friday. Witness and taste your child’s accomplishments first hand!
